Rimlex® 310 is a Room Temperature Vulcanising (RTV) silicone sealant which has been specifically developed for high temperature applications. Once applied the compound reacts with atmospheric moisture to form a tough and durable rubber seal. It has excellent adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics and plastics. The compound has large gap filling properties which makes it ideal for application to non-machined surfaces and even as cast surfaces.
Rimlex 310 is a general purpose adhesive sealant with many applications in building, engineering and the automotive industry. It has excellent adhesion without primer to metals, glass, ceramics and most rigid plastics. The cured compound is resistant to weathering, aging and to many solvents, oil, water and lubricants. Its excellent thermal stability means it can be used for sealing and bonding at temperatures up to 300°C and for gasketing up to 350°C depending on the application. It is ideal for use as a flexible gasket or flange sealant in automotive and general engineering applications.
To ensure consistency of application of the Rimlex® 310 on components, it is best applied via automated dispensing ideally using a X/Y robot to give a known and consistent height.
Please call us to discuss application equipment as we can recommend suitable equipment from partner companies.
Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from contamination such as oil or grease. Once applied in Gasket applications, the joint should be assembled without delay.
Care should be taken when applying the compound to ensure any excess product will not foul any internal channels and cause blockages. Any excess uncured product extruded externally can be wiped away with a damp cloth.
When stripping assemblies sealed with Rimlex 310, carefully scrape away as much as of the cured product as possible. The remaining compound can be softened and removed using Silicone Sealant Remover.
